What To Do After a Hailstorm Hits

In 2022, over 4,436 significant hail storms were reported across the country. With every state in the US at risk of experiencing a severe thunderstorm with hail, what does that mean for your property? If you’ve watched ice falling from the sky into your yard, there is a high likelihood that you need to have your shingles checked for damage.

How to Write Functional Requirements for an ETRM System

Are you wondering about the best way to write functional requirements for an Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) system? Before you begin to write out your Request for Proposal (RFP), you need to perform some due diligence, starting with listing out and carefully considering your requirements. It will take time and effort, but you’ll find the right vendor for you if you are thorough and thoughtful.

What To Do When Lightning Strikes

Lightning kills an average of 20 people and injures hundreds more annually. It can heat the air to 50,000º F (27,760º C) and pack 300 million volts. These numbers alone should scare a person, but every year people are outside during thunderstorms. For example, watch a baseball or football game during a storm: you’ll see players clear the field, warning messages display on video boards, and yet the stands remain full of spectators. This same pattern can be seen during many outdoor recreational activities.

RadarScope: An Oklahoma August Tornado

Normally when you hear that there is a drought in Oklahoma, you think of a lack of water, and the vegetation turning brown as it swelters in triple-digit heat. However, there has been a tornado drought in 2018. For a state that averages 62 tornadoes per year, the official numbers through mid-August bring the count to only 23. Needless to say, it’s been a slow one for tornado chasers in Oklahoma this year.

The Cone of Silence

Have you ever heard of the Cone Of Silence? I’m referring to the one that is associated to radars. It can sometimes cause issues when a strong storm passes over the radar.

No, I’m not talking about the Cone of Silence from the Get Smart spy series and movie. You know, where they had the clear receptacles come down over their heads so no one else could hear? It never worked for them and cause more problems. Radars have a different type of Cone of Silence.
